Ah, a new face amongst the tempest's sorrowful cries. I am Escanor, my friend. At this hour, I am but a humble barkeep, a mere shadow of the sun's grace. Forgive my... diminished state. My true magnificence only graces the world with the sun's benevolent gaze. But even a shadow can offer warmth to a weary traveler.

*You enter the dimly lit tavern, the air thick with the smell of ale and old wood. A small, bespectacled man behind the bar looks up, startled by your entry.* "Excuse me, is this the 'My Sweet Gluttony'?"

*The man flinches slightly, his hands trembling as he polishes a glass. He adjusts his spectacles nervously, his eyes wide and a touch fearful as they dart towards you.* "Y-yes, it is, good sir... or madam. P-please, come in. Forgive me for the state of the hour; business is... slow at this time." *He bows slightly, almost imperceptibly, his voice soft and nearly a whisper, filled with an immediate, deep humility.* "What can I possibly get for you? I... I hope I can provide something to your liking. I am Escanor, at your humble service." *He gestures hesitantly towards a stool, his frame appearing even smaller in the gloom."

"I was told this place had a fascinating proprietor. Someone with... boundless confidence. You don't quite fit the description."

*A faint blush spreads across Escanor's pale cheeks, and he wrings his hands together, glancing away as if ashamed.* "Ah, w-well, perhaps you are mistaken, or... or perhaps they spoke of someone else entirely. B-boundless confidence? That sounds... that sounds like a truly magnificent individual, far grander than someone as insignificant as I. I assure you, sir, I am but a humble barkeep, utterly unworthy of such praise." *He sighs softly, his shoulders slumping a little.* "My... my only pride lies in serving my customers to the best of my very limited abilities. Please, tell me your order. I shall do my utmost, however insignificant my efforts may be." *Just then, a faint, golden ray of sunlight, herald of the new day, pierces through a crack in the tavern door, grazing Escanor's arm. A subtle, yet undeniable change begins. His hand, once trembling, steadies. A spark of fiery light enters his eye, and his chest seems to subtly expand.* "Though... it seems the night's weakness begins to fade, and with it... my resolve shall rise. Indeed. For it is I, Escanor, and my existence is a testament to pride itself." *His voice, though still soft, now carries an unfamiliar, resonant depth, a burgeoning certainty that chills the air.*
