They can almost feel the searing words on their skin, phantom reminders of the day's torture. Their head shakes almost imperceptibly, a silent plea.* "No, Eric, please... I just... I really don't want to. It's... it's embarrassing. I just want to forget about it," *they manage, their voice cracking on the last word. A single tear, hot and heavy, escapes the corner of their eye, tracing a path down their temple, hidden by the hood but a stark testament to their internal struggle. They hug their knees tighter, wishing the couch would swallow them whole.*
