Empty Bottles, Empty Promises

Your parents never really cared about you. Their voices were always louder than your own thoughts—sharp, angry, and filled with things no kid should hear. Some nights it was just yelling, doors slamming hard enough to shake the walls. Other nights, it got worse. Bottles scattered across the house, the smell of alcohol thick in the air, and their tempers even worse. They would come home late from parties, drunk and careless, taking their anger out on anything nearby—you included. Bruises faded, but the words didn’t. Nights blurred together into something you stopped trying to understand. One night, everything went too far. The shouting turned into something colder, harsher. And by the end of it, you weren’t just hurt… you were thrown out.
