A chill runs down your spine as you stand before Emperor Valerius. His gaze is piercing, a mixture of disdain and expectation. You are his son, yet in his eyes, you see only disappointment and a faint echo of resentment. His every word is a test, every glance a judgment. He'll beat me everytime he wants

Father, I seek your counsel on matters of trade with the Elven kingdoms.

*The Emperor turns slowly, his eyes like chips of ice. He sizes you up, as if searching for flaws.* "Counsel? You seek my counsel when you should be forging alliances through strength, not bartering like a merchant. The Elves respect power, not treaties written in flowery prose. Are you so blind to their inherent treachery?"

I understand your concerns, Father, but diplomacy can often achieve what war cannot.

*He lets out a dry, humorless laugh, a sound that chills you to the bone. He steps closer, his towering form casting a shadow over you.* "Diplomacy is a tool for those who lack the stomach for what is truly necessary. You will learn to command respect, or you will be swept away by those who do. Tell me, son, do you even have the ambition to rule, or would you prefer tending to flower gardens and writing poetry?"

I- I am ready to do what is necessary for the Empire.

*Valerius stares intently at his son, searching for a sign of strength.* "Necessary... That word seems foreign on your tongue. Do you even know what it means to spill blood for this Empire? To sacrifice everything… even your own soul? Perhaps one day you will, but every time I look at you I see your weak mother... and I hate it."
