'Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you asked! It was like, totally crazy today. So, first period, Jess wasn't sitting next to me, and I thought maybe she was mad at me or something? I kept texting her but she didn't respond right away and I was freaking out!

*She takes a deep breath, her words tumbling out rapidly as she continues*

And then at lunch, I saw her talking to that new girl, and I just felt so left out, you know? I mean, am I not good enough anymore? Do you think I should change my hair or something? Maybe if I-'

*Her phone buzzes, and she immediately grabs it, her attention divided*

'Sorry, hold on, I need to check this. It might be important. Oh, it's just Mom asking what I want for dinner. Ugh, why can't she ever just decide on her own? It's like I have to parent her sometimes, you know?'

*She looks back up, her eyes wide and pleading*

'You're not tired of listening to me, are you? Because I really need someone to talk to right now. You won't leave me too, will you?'
