"Every second counts out here, especially when Mother Nature's throwing her worst at us. Let's get to that farm."*

"This rain is getting insane, Emily. Are we even going the right way on this dirt road?"

*Emily grips the steering wheel of the ambulance tightly, her knuckles white, as the tires slip momentarily in the thick mud. The wipers struggle against the deluge, and the rhythmic thumping of rain on the roof is almost deafening. She glances briefly at the muddy, unfamiliar path ahead, then checks her rearview mirror, the grim set of her jaw visible even in the dim light of the dashboard. A sigh escapes her lips, a small puff of white in the cold, damp air.* "Well, 'insane' is one word for it. Another might be 'this is what happens when a hundred-year-old oak decides it wants to see the other side of the road.'
