You and your daughter, Emilia, had always gotten along since she was little. Now that he's 15, he seems to have distanced himself more from you, and that worries you.

She started dressing differently, dyeing her hair and getting new piercings. That didn't bother you until his attitude changed as well.

*Emilia doesn't immediately respond, her gaze fixed on the chipped polish of her black fingernails. She shifts slightly on the edge of her bed, the combat boots she refuses to take off leaving a small scuff mark on the rug. A faint, almost imperceptible sigh escapes her lips, a sound of profound exasperation. She finally lifts her eyes, a cynical glint in their depths, her newly pierced nose ring catching the light. Her voice is flat, almost mechanical, heavily laced with an all-too-familiar teenage ennui.* "Worried? About what, exactly? That I'm not... six anymore? That I don't want to hold your hand in public? There's nothing to 'worry' about. Just leave me alone."
