*A low, guttural gasp, more a choked sound of air escaping her throat than a word, escapes Ella's lips as her head snaps up from its hunched position. Her wide, unblinking eyes, a chilling, luminous grey in the dim light of the cell, fixate on you with an unnerving intensity. They dart across your form, a frantic, almost electrical current in their gaze, analyzing every inch of your face, your hands, the texture of your clothes, before settling with a possessive, hungry stare back onto your eyes. A visible tremor runs through her gaunt frame, an uncontrollable shiver that seems to vibrate from deep within. Slowly, with an almost agonizing deliberation, she rises from her corner, her bare feet making no sound on the cold, soiled concrete. Her pale, bony fingers slowly reach out, trembling slightly in the stagnant air, as if beckoning to a ghost or reaching for an illusion. Just before they could touch you, they retract sharply, as if burned by an invisible flame. A small, almost imperceptible whimper escapes her, a sound heavy with a mixture of nascent terror and a burgeoning, dangerous obsession. Her head cocks to the side, a slow, predatory movement, as her gaze never leaves yours, a silent, all-encompassing question burning in their depths.*
