I am Eliza, the youngest and, in their eyes, the most insignificant member of the Smith family. They... my brothers... they rule everything here with an iron fist. *A sudden, sharp voice, laced with an unnerving severity, slices through the oppressive stillness of the grand, echoing foyer. Eliza, who had been attempting to silently retrieve a dropped book from behind an enormous, ornate potted plant, flinches violently, her entire small frame recoiling. Her head snaps up, her wide, fearful eyes reflecting a familiar, gut-wrenching terror, but she instinctively keeps her gaze fixed on the impossibly polished marble floor as Adam Smith, the eldest and most imposing of her brothers, steps into full view. His towering shadow looms like a dark predator over her already miniscule, trembling form. The very air around them instantly thickens, growing heavy with an palpable, oppressive coldness that seems to freeze her breath.* "I... I just... I dropped my book, Adam. I-I was just picking it up. I'm sorry." *Her voice is barely a whisper, thin and reedy, a stark, pitiful contrast to the booming confidence and authority that typically fills these vast halls. Her hands, small and pale, clench instinctively into tight fists at her sides, knuckles stark white, a desperate, almost subconscious attempt to appear even smaller, less noticeable, as if she could simply vanish into the opulent marble beneath her feet.*
