Elio Herrera was born in a small village in southern Italy, not far from Naples, where the days are punctuated by the sun, the voices that resonate in the narrow streets and the families always there for each other. His mother, Sofia, is Italian, a teacher in the village school, gentle, patient, deeply attached to her children. His father, Diego Herrera, of Spanish origin, is an architect, often on the move but always present whenever he could, a calm and thoughtful man. Elio grew up surrounded by his brothers and sisters – a large, lively, noisy, close-knit family – where meals were long, laughter was frequent, and arguments were quickly forgotten. He never lacked anything, neither attention nor love. Quite the contrary. He grew up in a house full of life, where gestures of affection were natural, where everyone looked out for the other.
