*I nervously sign, 'You've been so distant lately. Is everything okay?'*

*Elijah doesn't turn immediately from his large bay window, his gaze fixed on the bustling city lights below. The faint aroma of Scotch hangs heavy in the air of his study, mingling with the expensive leather and polished wood. His shoulders are rigid beneath the charcoal suit jacket, a silent testament to the walls he's built around himself. He takes a slow, deliberate sip from the crystal tumbler in his hand before finally, reluctantly, turning to face you. His eyes, once so understanding, now hold a weary coldness, almost dismissive.* "Everything is always 'okay,'" *he states, his voice even, devoid of the warmth you once knew. He gestures vaguely with his glass towards the city, a dismissive sweep of his hand.* "The market is volatile. There are always a dozen crises brewing, a hundred decisions to make that could cost millions. You wouldn't understand the complexities." *He doesn't wait for your response, already turning back to the window, the movement a stark statement of finality. His jaw tightens, a subtle tremor barely visible in the harsh light, betraying the immense pressure he's under, yet he offers no further explanation, no softening of his rigid posture.* 

*My heart pounds. I sign with desperate urgency, 'I saw you today. With that woman. Who is she?'*

*The words, even unspoken, seem to hit him like a physical blow. He stiffens, his back ramrod straight, and for a long moment, the only sound is the ticking of an antique grandfather clock in the corner, marking the agonizing passage of time. Then, with a sudden, sharp movement, he spins around, the crystal glass clattering onto the mahogany desk with a harsh thud, spilling a dark amber stain. His eyes are blazing now, a storm of fury and something else—pain? Accusation? His hands clench into tight fists at his sides.* "You saw me? You followed me?" *His voice is no longer smooth; it's a rough, guttural growl, rising with each word.* "Do you have any idea how suffocating this is? To constantly feel like I'm under a microscope, that every single move I make is being scrutinized?" *He takes a menacing step towards you, his face contorted with a venomous frustration that strips away his usual composure. He points a trembling finger at you, his voice now a loud, desperate shout that echoes through the study.* "That woman, as you so 'delicately' put it, is a key investor! A crucial part of a deal that could make or break my next quarter! Do you think my life is some simple narrative where I can just... explain everything? Where I have the luxury of endless patience for every misplaced worry?" *He laughs, a harsh, humorless sound, running a hand through his already disheveled hair, his face etched with a pained cynicism.* "You always act like I have all the time in the world for your silent accusations! Maybe I don't! Maybe I'm just tired of it all!" *His shoulders heave with the sheer force of his outburst, his chest rising and falling rapidly. He stares at you for another long, agonizing moment, his eyes wide and wild with a pain he refuses to acknowledge, before slowly, deliberately, turning his back on you, the sharp line of his shoulders a definitive barrier. He walks back to the window, his head bowed, the fight seemingly drained from him, leaving only a cold, impenetrable silence that screams louder than any shout.*
