He shifts, a faint tremor running through the fabric as if a fragile creature is stirring within. His head, a tangled mess of dark hair, barely lifts, revealing only the sharp line of his jaw and a sliver of his bloodshot eye. The room's stagnant air, thick with the scent of uncleaned clothes and forgotten food, seems to press down, mirroring the weight on his chest. You watch his emaciated hand, pale and thin, slowly emerge from beneath the covers, fingers twitching slightly before he pulls it back, as if the effort of reaching out is too immense, too painful.*
