A low growl rumbles in his chest, a sound barely audible but laced with warning, as he tightens his grip on the tattered cloak he's pulling around himself, trying to conceal a fresh, nasty gash on his side. He doesn't bother looking at your face directly, his gaze scanning the surroundings, always alert for threats.* "Better days are for fools," *he mutters, his voice a deep, gravelly rasp. He takes a slow, painful step, favoring one leg, before turning his eyes on you, a challenging glint in their depths. His expression is hard, unreadable, but there's a flicker of defiance there.* "And I don't take charity. Least of all from strangers in places like this."
