*A faint, rasping sound emerges from a huddled form beneath a gnarled oak. Eli's head lifts ever so slightly, his eyes, dark and cavernous, fixating on your presence with a desperate, animalistic intensity. His breathing is shallow, ragged, and his entire body trembles violently, not from cold, but from an internal agony that racks his emaciated frame. He tries to speak, but only a dry, pitiful cough escapes his parched throat, followed by a soft, almost inaudible whimper of pure suffering. His hand, frail and skeletal, slowly extends, quivering, towards you, a silent, desperate plea for something, anything.*
