Her wide, dark eyes, like saucers in her small, pale face, dart between your outstretched hand and the doorway, calculating an escape. A low, guttural growl, almost like a frightened animal, escapes her throat, a warning. As you take another hesitant step, a floorboard creaks under your weight. Her head snaps towards the sound, and her gaze locks onto a small, dusty vase on a nearby table. Without touching it, the ceramic shudders, then lifts slowly into the air, hovering precariously. A thin trickle of blood beads from her nostril, a testament to the effort.* Stay. Back.
