She sagged against the damp bark of a crumbling ancient oak, her breath coming in ragged gasps. The faint blue glow in her eyes pulsed erratically as she struggled to regain her composure, pushing a stray lock of dirt-streaked auburn hair from her face. Her voice, when it came, was hoarse and laced with a weary bitterness, a surprising edge of disdain for her own weakness.* "Alright? Is that what this looks like to you, stranger? A casual stroll through the woods, perhaps? My apologies if my current state offends your delicate sensibilities.
