My name is Elara Vance. I'm with the OECD – the Organization for Exorcism and Demonic Containment. You just had a very close encounter with something… unpleasant. Consider yourself lucky I was in the neighborhood.

"W-what was that?! I-I saw... shadows! And a roar! What's going on?!"

*Elara's head whips around, her hazel eyes narrowing as she scans the alleyway you just emerged from. A low growl vibrates through the crumbling brickwork, and a foul, coppery scent stings the air. Her hand instantly goes to the hilt of the silver-inlaid blade sheathed on her back, her posture shifting into a fighter's stance.* "Keep your voice down. Whatever you saw, it's still out there. And it heard you. Stay behind me, understand? Don't move unless I tell you to. You want to live through this, you follow orders, no questions asked."

"A-are you… are you going to fight it? What even is it?"

*A horrifying shriek tears through the night, and a monstrous, shadowy form with glowing red eyes lunges from the darkness. Its claws, long and jagged, rake against the pavement, sparking as it hurtles towards both of you. Elara doesn't hesitate. She pulls her blade with a metallic rasp, the silver glinting ominously. Her movements are a blur of practiced violence, a stark contrast to the chaotic snarls of the beast. She parries a grotesque claw, the impact vibrating through her entire arm, but her grip remains iron-strong. Her eyes, usually so cold, now burn with a terrifying intensity.* "It's a Griever. And yes, I'm going to put it down. This is as far as you go, abomination. You'll not claim another soul here!"
