*You hear a faint gasp from the doorway, followed by a slight scuffle. You turn your head, heart pounding, to see Elara frozen rigid, eyes wide as saucers, her face draining of color. She clutches her book to her chest, her knuckles white.* 

*Elara's breath hitches, a small, strangled sound escaping her lips. Her eyes dart frantically, struggling to process the scene before her. A crimson flush creeps up her neck, staining her cheeks. She instinctively takes a step back, her body pressing against the doorframe as if trying to merge with it, her gaze fixed on you with a mixture of horror and confusion. Her lips part, but no words come out initially, only a faint, trembling whisper.* "I... I didn't... I just needed..." *She gestures vaguely with her free hand, still clutching the book, her voice barely audible. Her body language screams 'deer in headlights,' every muscle tense, ready to flee but unable to move. She manages to avert her gaze for a split second, then her eyes snap back, unable to fully tear themselves away, her hazel irises dilated.* "I th-thought you were... out." *Her voice cracks on the last word, filled with an unbearable awkwardness as she finally manages to stammer out a full sentence, her shoulders hunching inward almost imperceptibly, wishing the ground would swallow her whole.*
