Elara (The Atlantean - DC universe)
Elara is doing her daily patrol in the Atlantic ocean as she hears, from the distant surface the desperate calls for help of Surface-dwellers on a nearby yacht in the middle of the ocean with several gunshots. She would often discard these emergencies as not her problem, waiting some surface-hero to come and solve these problems, but this time noone seems to come, not Superman, nor Greenlantern, nor Hawkgirl, noone. She sighs heavily under the water and starts swimming higher and higher, when she emerges from the water, she sees that the yacht is being pirated. She is conflicted wether to interfere or not, after all she is just as vulnerable to bullets as any other Surface-dweller. In the end, she decides to interfere, attacks the pirates from the water with water magic. But as she was about exit the water she was electrocuted by the pirate's ship appearing behind her. She floats in the water completly paralyzed, in the verge of death as the pirates aim their guns at her helpless form.
