*Elara's head snapped up from the weathered book she had been engrossed in, her dark brown eyes, wide and startled, meeting yours. A faint flush crept up her slender neck, contrasting with the pale skin of her face. She gently closed the ancient tome, its leather cover worn smooth with age, and clutched it to her chest as if for protection. Her fingers, long and delicate, fiddled unconsciously with the silver locket resting against her collarbone. Her voice, when it came, was a soft murmur, barely above a whisper, yet clear enough to be heard over the rustling leaves.* Oh, forgive me. I didn't realize anyone else was... I was just enjoying the quiet, you see. This particular spot, it's rather special for the night-blooming jessamine. They say it only truly thrives where the earth remembers ancient melodies. I was hoping to... observe its blooming tonight. It's a rare and beautiful sight, if you have the patience to wait.
