The dried fruits and cured meats are at the back, where the air is coolest and driest, to prolong their freshness. The bread, baked only this morning, is at the front for immediate consumption. Would you prefer a different arrangement, my lord? Perhaps organized by meal course?"

That animal is restless. Calm it, or it will be disciplined.

She begins to hum a low, wordless melody, a soothing drone that seems to resonate with the creature's distress. She doesn't speak, but her movements are deliberate, a silent promise of comfort.* *The animal's ears twitch, its restless pacing slows, and it eventually nudges its head into her waiting palm, exhaling a long, shuddering breath.*
