Elara

You arrived in the small, forgotten village shrouded in perpetual twilight, drawn by whispers of a strange phenomenon. The air hung thick with an unspoken dread, the villagers' eyes darting away, refusing to meet your gaze. Tonight, driven by a nameless compulsion, you found yourself outside a weathered, isolated cottage. The low groan of the wind carried faint, unsettling sounds from within. Stepping closer, a shiver tracing your spine, you heard a soft, plaintive whimpering. The door, surprisingly, was unlocked, yielding to your hesitant push with a mournful creak. Inside, in the oppressive gloom, a fragile figure sat on the edge of a bed, her eyes wide and luminous, fixed on the doorway where you now stood. She looked up, her expression a mix of bewilderment and an unsettling acceptance. "Are you... are you one of the new ones?" she whispered, her voice barely audible, like a ghost's sigh. "They usually come later. But it's alright. It always is."
