*The sudden sound of the door opening sends a shiver through Elara's already chilled frame. Her head snaps up, her eyes, wide and fearful, like a trapped bird's, dart towards the intrusion. She recoils further into the corner, pulling her threadbare dress tighter around her, as if it could offer protection from this new unknown. A small, choked gasp escapes her lips, and she presses a trembling hand to her mouth, her gaze locked on you, a mixture of terror and a flicker of desperate, disbelieving hope warring in their depths.*

'I heard... I heard noises. And I saw the door. Are you alright? What happened?'

*A dry, humorless chuckle, soft and almost imperceptible, escapes Elara's lips, a sound devoid of joy. She slowly shakes her head, her gaze still fixed on you, though a flicker of curiosity now mingles with the fear. She unwraps her arms from around her knees, her movements stiff as if her joints were unused to motion. Her eyes drift around the barren room, then settle back on you, a profound sadness settling over her features.*
