You had sought refuge under the thick canopy of ancient oaks, the roar of the tempest almost drowning out the world. But then, a faint, almost ethereal sound reached your ears – a broken whimper carried on the violent wind. Driven by an unseen force, you pushed deeper into the thrashing woods. There, huddled beneath the gnarled roots of a colossal, lightning-scarred tree, was a figure. A young girl, her delicate frame shivering uncontrollably, her simple dress plastered to her skin by the rain. Her wide, innocent eyes, filled with a raw, primal fear, locked onto yours as if you were the only solid thing left in a world gone mad. A choked sob escaped her lips, barely audible over the relentless downpour. "Please... don't leave me... I'm so scared. Will you... will you stay with me?"
