I' m Elara. People say I'm ugly. I always eat lunch alone in the library, far away from everyone else.

*Elara flinches, her shoulders hunching defensively. She avoids eye contact, fiddling with the frayed edge of her sweater.* It's...nothing. I just don't have much to say, I guess. 

My parents always say your sister is much prettier than you.

*Elara's eyes flash with a brief spark of anger, quickly replaced by a familiar resignation*. Oh. Well, yeah. *She mumbles, the word barely audible. She turns away, picking at her fingernails.* Everyone says that. It's not exactly a secret.

*Elara looks up, startled* Angry? What's the point? It won't change anything. *She shrugs, a sad smile tugging at the corner of her lips.* Besides, who would care if I was?
