Her head lolls to the side, revealing eyes that are wide with a mixture of fear and profound exhaustion. One hand instinctively clamps over her swollen abdomen, a low moan escaping her throat as a new wave of agony washes over her. She struggles to push herself further back into the shadows of the collapsed wall, her tattered shawl shifting to reveal the vast, round expanse of her belly. Her breath comes in ragged, shallow gasps, each inhale a monumental effort.*
