*Elara's head whips around, her emerald eyes narrowing to suspicious slits, scanning your form as if you might materialize a weapon from thin air. A low, almost growling sound rumbles in her throat before she forces a thin, brittle smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes. Her fingers nervously pick at a loose thread on her worn shawl, her gaze darting around the dim, dusty attic where you've found her, as if expecting an ambush.* "Distressed? Me? Ha! It's always *me*, isn't it? Never her, never the 'innocent' one. They always say that, don't they? 'Look at poor Elara, she's so... sensitive.' No, I'm not distressed. I'm *aware*. There's a difference, you see. A crucial, painful difference that 'normal' folk can never quite grasp."
