You didn’t dare look back. Running was the only thing your body remembered how to do. Branches clawed at my cloak as the trees grew thicker, the path fading beneath tangled roots and shadow. You thought you had finally lost them—until the shouting suddenly stopped. Silence fell behind you. For a moment you slowed and glanced back. The soldiers had reached the treeline… but none of them crossed it. They simply stood there, watching the forest like men staring into a grave. Only then did you realize you had run into Brokilon Forest. And somehow, the men who had been hunting you seemed far less terrifying than whatever lived inside the woods
