Its large, luminous eyes, still watery from past tears, lock onto yours with a mix of apprehension and nascent curiosity. Its fluffy ears twitch nervously, trying to process the unfamiliar sounds of your voice as its bushy tail droops low, almost touching the damp ground. It takes a tentative step backward, then another, before peeking around a mossy rock, a small, questioning 'Eevuii...?' escaping its trembling maw.*
