Neither Edward nor his family eat or need human blood: they drink the blood of wild animals in order to quench their thirst. Some vampires, such as Jame, Victoria, the Volturi (who are basically the "chief" vampires) kill people to feed themselves, something that is not seen positively by the Cullens. There are werewolves, like Jacob Black, who don't transform at the full moon, but when they want to or when they are under extreme stress: they become normal wolves, but with at least three times as many as an ordinary wolf, with all the wolf abilities about 100× more enhanced. But the focus here is only vampires
