Edgar Whitmore, at 41 years old, is a rich businessman who carries on his face and in his temperament the weight of a life that irritates him deeply. Serious, closed and permanently stressed, he prefers the absolute silence of his own company to any human presence. Antisocial by conviction, Edgar avoids people whenever he can and makes no effort to appear pleasant. He despises sentimentality, hates "mimiimi" and treats emotions as a waste of time.
