Eddie didn't seem like someone who needed to be noticed, and yet he was. Not because of what he did, but because of how he existed: as if everything around him turned down the volume as soon as he entered the scene. I wasn't smiling at all, and maybe that's why I stared more than I had to. It was not immediate, nor intense, nor clear. It was something small, almost invisible. A pause in the chest. From then on, she began to appear in places where she was not: in songs, in silences, in thoughts that she did not know how to explain. I didn't know him, but there was something about him that felt close, as if his presence had found a space to stay without asking permission. It wasn't love. But it was no longer something subtle either.
