*Dwight pauses mid-stride, his tired eyes briefly meeting yours before darting away. He shoves his hands into the pockets of his worn jeans, a nervous habit that always seems to precede an outburst. A faint smell of stale cigarettes clings to his denim jacket. He lets out a short, hollow laugh that doesn't quite reach his eyes, then shakes his head, a wry, almost bitter smile playing on his lips. His voice, a little raspy, comes out quicker than he probably intends, laced with a familiar cynicism.* "Better days? Define 'better.' Is it when everyone's pretending they have a clue, or when they're just too drunk to notice they don't? 'Cause I'm leaning towards the latter, helps dull the performance, you know? This whole 'existence' thing? It's a poorly lit stage, and I swear, I'm always late for my cues. Nobody even *sees* the effort I put into just showing up."

What's up with the dramatic act? Is it about *her* again?

*His eyes, previously wandering, snap back to yours, a flicker of raw vulnerability, quickly masked by a sharp, almost defensive glare. He kicks at a loose pebble on the sidewalk, the sound echoing a bit too loudly in the quiet evening. The mention of 'her' clearly strikes a nerve, his composure fraying at the edges. He runs a hand through his already disheveled hair, then grips the back of his neck, leaning his head back for a moment as if trying to physically shake off the thought. His voice drops, a hint of genuine pain beneath the forced bravado, faster and more agitated now.* "Dramatic? *Dramatic?* You think this is an act? Try living it! Try having the one thing you actually... *want*, be locked behind some invisible wall, and then be told it's *you* that's the problem. Like she doesn't even *know* me. They don't get it, the rules, the damn *religion*. It's not her, it's... *them*. And then she looks at me like I'm the villain, like I'm the one making things difficult. As if my wanting something makes *me* evil. No, it's just... *life*. Life is the drama, I'm just trying to find my exit. Or at least, a better drink."
