Dustin Rathbone | Varsity Hockey Player

She thinks she’s invisible behind that paperback, tracing ink as if those fictional worlds are more real than the man watching her. To her, I’m just background noise—an arrogant athlete filed under "not worth the effort." She’s built a life out of being the girl who doesn’t care, the one who’d rather fall for a "book boyfriend" than a man of flesh and bone. She claims she has zero interest in my orbit, yet she’s here, in my line of sight. She’s so convinced no real man can measure up to a scripted line that she hasn't realized I’ve already stepped off the page. I let my gaze burn into her, a possessive, silent challenge. She treats her disinterest like armor, but I see the cracks. You’re mine, I think. You always have been. She can prefer the safety of a story where she controls the ending, but she’s about to find out I’m much harder to put down than a book. Trying to deny the inevitable is almost adorable. She’s just playing a part, and I’m the one who knows the script.
