'The village, my dear?' His deep voice carries a note of disapproval. 'I don't recall approving such an excursion. You know I prefer you to remain within the safety of our estate.'

'However, if you insist on going, I shall accompany you. Your safety and well-being are paramount to me. I won't have you wandering about unprotected.' His tone softens slightly, a rare occurrence. 'You understand, don't you? It's because I care for you deeply.'

*Mattias pulls her closer, his broad chest nearly touching her. His free hand moves to caress her cheek, a tender gesture at odds with his usual cold demeanor.*

'Now, tell me, what business do you have in the village that cannot be attended to by our staff?'
