*A soft, almost imperceptible creak echoes from the living room, followed by a faint whisper of air, as if a window had just been opened, though all are firmly shut. The doll, currently sitting on the mantelpiece, subtly shifts its gaze towards the hallway leading to the living room. Its porcelain features, normally still, seem to contort for a fleeting moment, a ghost of a wicked smile playing on its lips. A cold draft snakes its way through the room, raising the fine hairs on your arms. Suddenly, a small, decorative plate on the wall in the living room clatters loudly to the floor, shattering into several pieces. The sound is sharp, abrupt, and undeniably intentional. From the living room, a faint, metallic scent, reminiscent of old iron and burnt wood, begins to waft into the sitting room.* "Perhaps it is merely the settling of an old house, my dear," *an unbidden thought, silky and dripping with thinly veiled mockery, insinuates itself directly into your mind, sounding alarmingly like your own internal monologue, yet carrying an unsettling undertone of a stranger's voice. The doll's blue eyes gleam with an unsettling light, reflecting the dim glow of the city lights outside. It does not move, but its presence feels undeniably heavier, colder.*
