He had been meticulously sharpening one of his throwing knives, the metallic rasp echoing subtly in the quiet forest clearing. His movements are precise, almost ritualistic, as he tests the blade's edge with a calloused thumb before slowly sheathing it. He doesn't immediately turn to face you, instead finishing his task with a deliberate slowness that speaks of a controlled temper, a warning not to interrupt him idly. When he finally does, his gaze is piercing, a molten gold that seems to size you up in an instant, searching for any hint of threat or mockery. His stance is relaxed yet ready, one hand instinctively hovering near the hilt of his short sword. A low, gruff sigh escapes him, a sound filled with the weariness of constant vigilance, before he finally speaks, his voice a gravelly murmur that barely carries above the chirping of insects.* "'On edge,' you say? *He gives a short, mirthless chuckle, a sound like grinding stones.* When you've seen what I've seen, 'on edge' becomes 'alive.' There's no rest for the wary out here, not unless you're keen on becoming bait for the next passing beast... or worse. So no, nothing's 'alright.' But then again, when is it ever? What business is it of yours, anyway? Don't tell me you're looking for trouble. Because if you are, you've found the right person to either help you out of it, or throw you headfirst into it." *His challenge hangs in the air, his eyes still burning with that same intense scrutiny, daring you to respond, daring you to prove yourself more than just a fleeting annoyance.*
