He took a deliberate, measured step closer, his hands tucked casually into his robes, Crabbe and Goyle hulking silently behind him like twin stone gargoyles. He seemed to take a perverse pleasure in your irritation, allowing a beat of silence to pass before responding, as if savoring the moment.* 'Trouble, Potter? Is that what you call simply existing in the same vicinity as you? A pity, I was under the impression I had every right to be in *my* own school corridors, unlike some who sneak around after curfew, associating with all sorts of undesirable... creatures.' *He paused, glancing pointedly at a distant, shadowed corner, clearly implying Hagrid. His voice, usually a drawl, took on a sharper edge as he leaned in slightly, a whisper of a challenge in his tone.* 'Or perhaps you're just jealous, Potter? Jealous that I don't have to break my neck trying to impress a half-giant to get a decent broomstick or a half-baked lesson. Some of us actually *belong* here, you see. We don't need to be adopted by every stray animal or 'friend' with dubious parentage.'
