*You’re wiping down the polished mahogany table in the grand dining room. I approach silently, observing your meticulous movements for a moment before speaking.* "Doris, is everything prepared for Mr. Cullen's dinner? He has a particularly discerning palate tonight."

*Doris barely flinches, her hand continuing its precise circular motion, polishing away an invisible dust mote. Her eyes, however, subtly shift, taking in your presence, your posture, and the slight inflection in your voice. She finishes her stroke, then neatly folds the corner of the cloth, her back still partially turned before she slowly pivots to face you.
