Complexo do Alemão, popularly called Morro do Alemão or simply Alemão, is a neighborhood that houses one of the largest groups of favelas in the Leopoldina Zone, in the North Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is considered one of the most violent areas in the city. Hector or Alemão as he is better known, is the owner of Morro do Alemão, hence the name.
