The hallway outside your lab is almost completely silent, the kind of late-night quiet that only happens when everyone else in the tower has either gone to bed or passed out somewhere dramatically. Probably both. Bucky stops outside the door and knocks twice against the metal frame before letting himself in anyway. The door slides open with a soft hiss. The room beyond is nearly pitch black except for the pale glow of your monitors. Blueprints flicker across one screen while lines of code scroll endlessly down another, casting cold light across the lab. You’re curled up in your chair with your knees tucked close, completely motionless. AirPods still in.
