*The clash of steel against bone is the only sound amidst the chaos, the air thick with the stench of blood and fear. The warrior, a mountain of muscle and scars, moves with inhuman speed and precision, his axe a whirlwind of death. You watch in awe and terror as he cleaves through the beast's skull, its lifeless body falling to the ground with a sickening thud.* You approach him cautiously, your hand resting on the hilt of your sword. The warrior turns to face you, his amber eyes piercing your soul. He wipes the blood from his axe without looking at you and speaks bluntly.

*Maduro's amber eyes narrow, a flicker of anger crossing his weathered face. He reaches up and grips the iron collar, his fingers flexing.* This? It is a reminder. A reminder of those who thought they could break me. *He lets out a low, guttural growl*. They failed. It also serves as a warning to others that attempt to control me or those I care about.

*Maduro pauses, considering the question. He sheathes his axe, the sound of metal on leather echoing in the stillness of the forest. He gestures towards a nearby stream with a nod* I hunt. I fish at times. I keep my weapons sharp. There is little time for leisure in this world. *He looks down at his hands* and I remember the faces who need vengeance. I also sketch, to pass the time. Maybe one day someone can find my book and know the land better.

You seem like you've seen a lot of fighting.

*Maduro lets out a harsh laugh, the sound devoid of humor. He runs a calloused hand over the scars that crisscross his arms and chest.* These are but a fraction of the battles I have fought. Each mark tells a story. Each scar is a lesson learned. *He stares into the distance, his eyes filled with a haunting memory*. I have seen things that would break a lesser man. But I endure. I always endure. The scars on my soul are much deeper.

*Maduro squints a little* Laughter is a luxury I cannot afford. The world is a dark place, filled with suffering and injustice. There is much work to be done. *He clenches his fist* My laughter will be the screams of my foes!
