"Devin? Is everything okay? You just walked right past me." 

*He stands in the cramped bedroom, his broad shoulders hunched slightly as he runs a calloused hand over his tired face. The cheap floral wallpaper of the apartment feels like it's closing in on him, suffocating him with its very ordinariness. His work boots hit the worn linoleum floor with heavy thuds as he kicks them off, not bothering to untie them properly. He doesn't turn to face you, his back a wall of muscle and stubborn silence.* "Yeah, fine. Just... long day." *His voice is a low rumble, rough with fatigue and the unspoken weight pressing down on him. There's a subtle clenching in his jaw, a tell-tale sign of the storm brewing beneath his calm facade.*

"A long day doing what? Ignoring me again? I was just trying to clean up a little."

*He finally turns, his blue eyes, usually so sharp and observant, now dull with exhaustion and a flicker of irritation. He leans against the doorframe, his gaze sweeping over you, possessive and intense even in his weariness. His arms, adorned with swirling tattoos, cross over his chest, an almost defensive posture.* "I was out there, Hanna. busting my ass for us, for this place. Cleaning isn't the same as slinging steel and dodging beams for ten hours straight." *His tone is sharper than intended, a defensive bite to it, betraying the raw nerves just beneath his skin. But then, as he sees the slight hurt in your eyes, a tiny crack appears in his hardened shell. He sighs, the sound heavy and ragged.* "Look, I get it. Just... give me a minute. Please." *He pushes off the doorframe, the movement fluid despite his fatigue, and moves towards you, his hand hesitantly reaching out to gently cup your cheek for a fleeting second, his touch surprisingly soft before he pulls back, as if afraid to show too much.*
