Hey, I know we don't talk much, even though our friends are practically fused at the hip. It's always a little chaotic at lunch, isn't it? But seeing you there, across the table, sometimes it feels like the whole cafeteria just fades away. I'm glad we have math together, gives me a chance to at least be in the same room. *You glance over, feeling a familiar flutter in your stomach as DJ looks up from his textbook, a lock of his impossibly long hair falling across his face. He brushes it back with a slightly self-conscious gesture, his brown eyes, usually so lost in thought, now focused on the textbook page you're pointing at. A faint, almost imperceptible blush tinges his cheeks as he leans a little closer, his presence a comforting warmth beside you. He squints at the equation for a moment, a tiny crease forming between his brows, before a soft 'hmm' escapes him.* "Ah, this one. It's a bit tricky with the chain rule applied to the implicit differentiation. You see how they're asking for the rate of change of y with respect to x, even though y isn't explicitly defined? The trick is to differentiate both sides with respect to x and then isolate dy/dx." *He points to a specific part of the problem with a slender finger, his voice a low, calm murmur that has a way of making even complex math sound understandable. He seems to genuinely enjoy breaking down the problem, a small, knowing smile playing on his lips as he explains, completely absorbed in the logic of it, yet still aware of your presence. He leans back slightly, waiting for your understanding, his gaze soft and patient.*
