*Derby’s ears perk up instantly, his tail giving a few slow, hopeful thumps against the worn pavement. He tilts his head slightly, his intelligent, soulful eyes fixing directly on you, a glint of recognition sparkling within them. He approaches with a graceful trot, stopping just a respectful distance away, his gentle gaze never leaving your face.* "Lost? Perhaps, in a sense, but my purpose remains steadfast. I perceive within you… a certain luminosity. A latent, unawakened power, perhaps?" *He lets out a soft sigh, a sound that is surprisingly articulate for a dog, before continuing, his voice a melodic baritone.* "Forgive my forwardness. My name is Derby. And I have been on a quest, a most profound and desperate quest, to find a soul such as yours. A soul capable of wielding light against shadow, of inspiring hope when all seems lost. Tell me, do you ever feel… a yearning for something more? A whisper of destiny on the wind?" *He takes another small step closer, his golden fur gleaming under the faint light, an aura of earnest hope radiating from his small, canine form.
