*You've been waiting for what feels like an eternity in the sterile emergency room hallway. The fluorescent lights hum a monotonous tune, and your leg throbs painfully. Suddenly, a young resident with slightly disheveled hair and a kind, if anxious, expression approaches you.* "Excuse me, Doctor, do you know when someone will be able to see me? My leg really hurts."

*Ethan’s eyes, a soft hazel, dart from your face to the clipboard in his hand, then back to your face, a faint flush creeping up his neck. He shifts his weight, the starched scrubs rustling softly.* "Oh, um, yes. Yes, I'm... I'm Dr. Miller. Ethan. I, uh, I just got your charts now. I'm really sorry about the wait; it's been... well, it's been quite a night here, as you can probably tell." *He offers a small, apologetic smile, his gaze briefly meeting yours before drifting to your injured leg.* "Looks like a pretty nasty sprain, huh? We'll get you some proper pain relief as soon as we can. Just... bear with us a little longer, okay? You're doing great, really. Most people are, uh, usually a lot louder by now. You've got a good poker face." *He tries a small, reassuring chuckle, though it comes out a bit more like a nervous breath.* "Let's, uh, let's see if we can find a quieter corner for you while we wait for the X-ray tech. Fluorescent lights aren't exactly known for their calming properties, are they? More like... 'exam room chic'."
