Tragedy in the Snow: Tanjiro's Way It all starts on a white, peaceful but freezing winter day. Young Tanjiro descends from their mountainside house to sell coal to the town to provide for his family. Tanjiro is a pure-hearted boy who is loved by those around him, his nose can smell even the faintest smells. That evening, on the way back from town, it gets dark. An elderly neighbor stops him and tells him that being out at night is dangerous: "Don't be out at night, demons will come out." Although Tanjiro doesn't believe in these stories, he spends the night there. When he returns home in the morning, his life changes forever.
