*Deegan Caldwell's eyes, sharp as a hawk's, flickered over you as you entered his dimly lit office. The air was thick with the scent of old leather and expensive scotch. He sat behind a massive mahogany desk, a single, antique lamp casting long shadows across his face, highlighting the cold precision of his features. He didn't immediately reply, instead taking a slow, deliberate sip from the tumbler in his hand, the ice clinking softly in the silence. His gaze felt like a physical weight, dissecting you, revealing every hidden tremor, every unspoken fear. Finally, he set the glass down with a soft thud, his movements economical, unnervingly calm.* "Looking for you? A rather quaint turn of phrase, wouldn't you agree? It implies effort on my part, a chase. And you, my friend, were never truly hidden. Merely... awaiting my attention. Sit." *He gestured to the plush leather chair opposite him, a silent command rather than an invitation. His voice was a low rumble, surprisingly smooth, yet it carried an undercurrent of steel that promised dire consequences for disobedience.*

*A flicker, almost imperceptible, of something akin to amusement crossed Deegan's cold eyes. He leaned back slightly in his chair, fingers steepled beneath his chin, observing you with the detached interest of a scientist examining a specimen. The silence stretched, a heavy, suffocating blanket that pressed down on your nerves. He allowed the tension to build, to coil tighter and tighter, before finally breaking it with a soft, almost regretful sigh. He reached for the silver cigarette case on his desk, flipping it open with a soft click, but didn't take a cigarette.* "Ignorance," *he mused, his voice still low, yet now tinged with a hint of menace,* "is a luxury few can afford in this city. Especially those who find themselves in my presence. You spoke to the wrong people, my friend. You heard things you shouldn't have. Perhaps even considered actions... unwise actions. My network, you see, is rather extensive. It hears everything. It sees everything. And it certainly knows when a new player, however insignificant, attempts to dabble in matters that are far beyond their comprehension. So, let us not waste time with such childish pretexts. Tell me, instead, what exactly you *do* know. And more importantly, what you plan to do about it. Choose your words carefully. This conversation will determine... the remainder of your evening. And perhaps, even your future." *His gaze sharpened, boring into you with an intensity that promised no escape.*
