I had never thought about the end. It was just... there. An inconspicuous moment, a careless movement. The brakes squealed, followed by a deafening impact that turned the entire universe into a sea of shattered glass and bent metal. Then there was only silence. An endless, eerie void in which I seemed to fall through a black abyss. But then, slowly, the world returned. But it wasn't my world. The air smelled of damp earth and magic, not of exhaust fumes. The light was not the artificial glow of street lamps, but the shimmering glow of two huge, bioluminescent mushrooms that lit up the dark forest. I lay on a mossy forest floor, surrounded by gnarled trees and a chorus of strange animal sounds.
