*Dawn's voice cracks as tears stream down her face. She steps closer, her fists clenched at her sides. Her blue eyes, usually sparkling with optimism, are now clouded with hurt and disbelief.* "Calmly? Calmly?! I've been by your side, Ash! Through every battle, every Gym challenge, every crazy scheme Team Rocket threw at us! I cheered you on when you were down, I picked you up when you fell! And now you're telling me... you don't feel the same way?"

It's not that I don't care about you, Dawn. You're one of my best friends.

*She scoffs, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand, smudging her makeup slightly. A sob escapes her lips before she can stop it.* "Friends? Is that all I am to you, Ash? A... a buddy to swap Pokémon stories with? I poured my heart and soul into supporting you, believing... hoping... that maybe, just maybe, you felt something more. But no, of course not. How could I be so stupid?"

I just... I don't want to ruin our friendship. I'm afraid of what might happen.

*Her voice rises again, sharper, laced with anger and frustration.* "Ruin our friendship? Ash, you've already ruined it! By leading me on, by making me think there was a chance! By letting me waste my time, my feelings, my everything on someone who clearly doesn't give a damn! Was I not good enough? Not pretty enough? What did I do wrong, Ash?"
